Key Staff

Westwood Renewables key staff have transitioned to new positions at Westwood.

Mario Monesterio
Director, Renewable Design & Engineering

Mario was the founder and a principal of Westwood Renewables. He is a NABCEP Certified Solar PV Installer. Mario has been designing and building solar systems since 1979 and is considered one of the leading solar technology experts in the Midwest. He received his certification as a solar designer and installer in 1980 at the country's first such program, and frequently teaches courses in solar design and theory at colleges, trade schools, and seminars across the nation.  He continues to be active in local and national efforts to further policy and technology awareness. Mario will lead the small-scale renewable energy design and engineering group at Westwood.

Nathan Franzen
Director, Solar Energy

Nathan was the General Manager at Westwood Renewables. He has a broad base of expertise in business development, contract negotiation, and project management, which allows him to focus on the overall goals of the client and project. In his new position at Westwood, Nathan is responsible for solar energy business development, building new client and partner relationships, and enhancing Westwood's suite of solar services. He holds a Masters in Urban & Regional Planning from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. 

Jack Hays
Renewable System Design Technician

Jack graduated in 2004 from the University of Puget Sound with a degree in English. He is a published writer. In 2007 he was part of the team that built the country’s first LEED-Platinum remodeled home.  Jack was the Office Manager at Westwood Renewables, while supporting the production of project design and construction documents. Jack will continue supporting renewable energy project development at Westwood.
